Good ol black and khaki!  Today's post is for my "more mature" clients who are faithful blog readers (I know because they've been telling me during their consults this past month, sharing the tips they've learned. I love it!). Most of the time I'm pushing my clients outside of their box and away from the old stand bys like black and khaki.  But, I also want to show you ways to update a classic look that never goes out of style.  The right accessories, an updated print, and a great fitting pant make all the difference.

Bright shorts are still hot for this summer and thankfully they're becoming much friendlier to wear, in terms of cut and style. I know I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but the easiest way to wear brights on the bottom is to keep your top neutral.  If you're a bit braver you can pair it with another bright which has a  pattern or stripe, to create some interest, like I did with this Lands End Canvas sweater.

While you've been out summer shopping I'm sure you also noticed that rolled shorts continue are all over the place.  If you have average to large thighs I would recommend you forgo the roll, it is less then flattering and can make your legs look a bit like a sausage. Oh my goodness, I just couldn't resist.  I used to LOVE Wonder Woman when I was just a wee little pup. I'm usually not a graphic tee kind of gal, but this one might just lure me in.  Fashion is supposed to be fun girls, that's what I always tell my clients.  I think this killer Silpada cuff  may even give me Wonder Woman powers! 

BTW, the shorts are also from Old Navy and the yellow cross body bag is from Target (I'm not sure why the links didn't come up).  Have a fun weekend, everyone!  Maybe you can relive a bit of your childhood too!

Maxi dresses are starting to become a wardrobe staple, in my book.  They're so versatile, comfy, and a great transition piece to take your from season to season.  With price points and shapes to fit everyone, they're a must have for spring and summer.  Be sure to get one that isn't too baggy, or too tight, the fit is important.  Finally, wearing shape wear underneath to give you a nice smooth silhouette is also a must!

Spring Trend: Lace

Lace is a big trend for spring and summer, so I thought I would give you a little sampling from some of the cute and affordable pieces out there.  I love lace for for all ages, but it's important to do it in a way that looks classy and chic, not cheap.  Picking lace in a white or cream is always classic and then you can pair it with colored bottoms or classic dark denim.  If you go with color dress it up a little to give it a richer look, like with white jeans or shorts.
