Looking to add a little spice to your work wardrobe?  This is a great vintage look to do just that.  The dress is so fun, and great for creative office environments, to get those creative juices flowing!  Don't forget those colored tights, which are all the rage this season.  Even if you don't work in a "creative" environment, what a great way to express your fun and creative personality!

oversized hat
acrylic scarve
Forever21 slouch hat

Isotoner knit glove
Cosy Mittens

As promised, here is a post on some snazzy accessories to help keep you feeling bright and cheery during the cold winter months!  Perfect for heading out to those Christmas parades and Christmas Caroling events.  Notice that your scarf doesn't have to match your gloves, which doesn't have to match your hat, it just needs to coordinate. =)

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I will be posting some fun holiday looks in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned!

Outerwear

Outerwear

Long shearling coat
Fitted coat
Funnel neck coat
Daytrip fake fur coat
H M tailored coat
Wool blend coat

Well, it's about time to pull out those winter coats.  In honor of the event I thought I would share some of my favorite outerwear looks for winter, a little something for everyone I think!  It's important to have a fun, stylish coat because for those of us who live in cooler climates, they get a lot of use. It's the first thing people will see on you for about 4 or 5 months out of the year, so you may as well make a good impression!

Note, there are not any black jackets, not there's anything wrong with black.  I'm as practical as the next person, but these colors are also very neutral, but fun. =)  When choosing a winter coat don't forget to take into consideration your body shape, because different styles work best on different frames.

Winter comes every year, so you may as well embrace it and look good while doing it!
P.S. Don't forget to accessorize - I'll save that for another post!

Looking for a way to spice up your work wardrobe?  A fun way to throw in some bold color with a basic black pencil skirt is by adding a cobalt blue blazer and bright hand bag.  And what's more fun than polka dots?!  Go straight from work to a night out by swapping your skirt for a some black or denim jeans.

Boyfriend jeans
Lands end Shirt
Suede boots
FOSSIL leather shoulder bag
leather belt

Well, TGIF!  Whether you're heading out for pizza, starting your Christmas shopping or making preparations for Thanksgiving, this outfit will be perfect.  I love the pop of color in the belt that gives it that extra pizazz.  You could belt the sweater or put the belt through the loops and leave the cardigan open.  Have a great weekend!

Neutrals - Plus Size

Thanksgiving Neutrals - Plus Size

Here's another great outfit idea for Thanksgiving, or anyday.  I must be into neutrals lately because my last two posts were both in neutral palettes.  This outfit could obviously take you right from Thanksgiving all the way through to New Years!

Thanksgiving Day Wear

Thanksgiving Day Wear

I can't believe Thanksgiving Day is next week already!  I know we're all starting to think about our plans for the day and menu items.  In all your preparations don't forget to start thinking ahead to what you're going to wear as well!  I love this sweet outfit, and it never hurts to wear layers so you're prepared for whatever temperature the room will be at Grandma's house.
Hey, since we're talking about Thanksgiving that means we're also starting to think about Christmas and whats on our lists for Santa this year, right?  Don't forget that gift certificates to Real Life. Real Style make great gifts for yourself and those are your list!  Just pop me an email, kate@steenwykbuilders.com, and I'll take care of the rest.
One last thing, I hope you like the new look of the blog, I sure do!  Thanks a million to Ann Lukas Designs for working her magic!

Feeling Wild in Leopard

Feeling Wild in Lepoard

top
leopard print faux fur jacket
Forever21 five pocket pants
Wedge heel shoes
oversized clutch handbag
Dot jewelry
Mood jewelry

Ready for a fun night out on the town?  This should get you in the mood!  I really like this leopard print coat because it doesn't look cheap, but classy.  I think this coat could work for all ages, you just need to adjust the outfit underneath to make it age appropriate.  It can be dressed up or down, so versatile.  What a fun, playful, yet classy way to embrace the animal print trend this season.  Go for it girls!

Jeans and Pearls

Jeans and Pearls

jeans
Dana buchman shell
LOFT wedge heel boots

satchel bag
bracelets
earrings

If you're looking for a way to look instantly chic, look no further!  Jeans and pearls are your ticket.  I love the formal nature of this pearl trimmed cardigan with the skinny jeans and wedge boots, much more fun and chic than wearing it with plain old black dress pants.

For some reason this look keeps reminding of me of the First Lady, and yeah, I'd like to think it's something First Lady, Michelle Obama would wear. =) She does have great style (or a great stylist!) and knows how to use color in her wardrobe.

Leggings for the Weekend

Leggings for the Weekend

Old navy cardigan
cotton tank
Gap pants
boots
Black handbag
Wide belt

Ahhh, there's nothing like a nice pair of comfy leggings for the weekend, and here's a great way to wear them.  A nice long sweater, belted, with a nice pop of color underneath.  Throw on your favorite go to earrings, a fun boot, chic purse and you're off.  Note - leggings don't work for everyone, just like skinny jeans don't work for everyone. As I always say, not every trend works for everyone.  Know your body shape, age, and stay true to your personal style.  If you want to hear more, pop me an email to schedule a consult at kate@steenwykbuilders.com!

A Little Fur

A Little Fur

Esprit turtleneck top
GAP boot cut pants
Nine west boots
Bangles jewelry
black bead earrings
SimplyVera Wang vest

Fur or faux fur is all the rage for this fall and winter.  I think today's look is a great way to incorporate it into your work wardrobe, with a nice black pant, and then the cognac turtleneck and bracelet.  This may  not be a color combination you would normally put together, but it works!  Of course you can also wear this vest all weekend by trading with the dress pants for a great pair of skinny or flare jeans.
