Pencil Skirt

Untitled #97

long sleeve top
Zara skirt
leather pumps
Aldo bag

Here's a little twist on a basic pencil skirt for the office.  Still very neutral and versatile, yet modern and chic in this lace version.  Lovely, isn't it?!

Are you feeling a little of the closet blues this time of the year?  Set up a consult so I can help you breathe new life into your winter wardrobe.  I'll help you figure out some new ways to wear what you already have, and make suggestions on what to add to your wardrobe for spring.  Send me an email at kate@steenwykbuilders.com, I'd love to hear from you.

Colored Jeans

Colored Jeans

knit top
LOFT straight leg pants
Gold ballerina flat
crossbody bag

jewelry

I dare ya! What I love about these colored jeans is that they're straight leg, versus skinny, which is easier for most women to wear.  They definitely aren't for everyone, but go for it if you dare!

I couldn't think of a clever title for this post, but I do think this is a great go to outfit for almost any occasion! You can go from lunch to dinner, casual day at work, Bible Study, errands, church, the list goes on.  That's my kind of outfit!

All Dressed Up

Untitled #93

dress
cardigan
high heels
Big buddha handbag
Earrings

All dressed up for work or play.  I was feeling inspired by Jackie O. in today's outfit, although I don't know that she would have done the red heels.  But, to me they are the icing on the cake to this outfit.  What a great dress for all seasons, and such a timeless style.

A Little Edge

Untitled #91

If you're looking to add a little edge to your wardrobe give this look a try.  Maybe I should call it tomboy chic? or Harley chic?  Call it what you will, I like it.  You didn't know you could mix plaid and fur, did you?!  There are lots of ways you could tone this down or dress it up, just by changing out the shirt and shoes. So many options, so little time.

This is the time of year I begin to get excited about what's coming out for spring, anxiously awaiting the new catalogs, store emails, and looking forward to my next visit to Target to see what's new.  I'll definitely be checking all my favorite stores, and making my wish list. =)  You'll notice a lot of the in between stuff coming out, much of it being nautical in nature, my personal favorite!

Right now is also a great time to get killer deals on remaining winter wear, while everyone is trying to make way for the new arrivals. The clearance racks at Target and Old Navy were definitely full today when I was there. But remember, just because it's cheap doesn't mean you should buy it.  Especially if it will sit in your closet as that item - the one you have no idea how to wear, or what to wear it with, but it was such a good deal.  If that happens, you know who to call to help you figure it out! =)

Monday Moccasins

Untitled #90

Old Navy button down shirt
Bootcut jeans
shoes
handbag
Statement necklace
wool sweater

You know what they say, just wait long enough and it will come back in fashion!  There really is a lot of truth to that statement, although there always seems to be a little twist on the new version that makes the old guys look dated.

I'm digging these moccasins way better than the old version we used to wear, with the red and white beads on the top.  Perfect for the snowless winter we're having!  You'll also notice how the statement necklace (I know you're shocked) can bring a lot of zing to this casual, but pulled together little ensemble.  Don't forget that other closet staple you often see on the blog, the multi faceted denim shirt.

What are you hanging on to hoping it will come back in style?

Weekend Getaway

Untitled #89

Quiksilver camisole top
denim skirt
Shiny shoes
Tote handbag
shell jewelry

Here's one last warm weather outfit for the week, to me it screams Jennifer Aniston, no?  I am head over heels with this lace top, and can think of lots of ways to style this in cold weather as well.  Actually, considering it's 50 degrees here in West Michigan today, you could wear it right now!

Next week it will be back to some cold weather looks, but I hope you enjoyed dreaming about some place warm and tropical this week, they'll be more to come in the weeks ahead.  If you're planning a warm weather getaway, I'd love to help you create a fabulous wardrobe for the trip!

South of the Border

South of the Border

Old Navy fitted button down shirt
Old navy maxi skirt
Havaianas strappy shoes

jewelry
Women's top

Doesn't this outfit have a great southwestern vibe?  Perfect if you're heading to Mexico.  It would even be a great traveling outfit, super comfy with layers for different climates.  You could simply change out the shoes for an ankle bootie or pair of TOMS and throw the flip flops in your carry on!  Presto chango!

Warm Weather Getaway

Warm Weather Getaway

Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying the fact that we finally have some snow here in West Michigan, but in case you're draming of  tropical climates, or preparing for a warm weather getaway here's a great look from Old Navy (swimsuit, dress and purse).  They have some adorable new resort looks, which you'll be seeing more of in the days to come.
